Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply when you use our website and services.
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the website hafrobertscyf.site and any engagement with Haf Roberts Cyf. By using this website, you agree to these terms.
1. About us
This website is operated by Haf Roberts Cyf, registered in England & Wales, with its address at Gwyddfor, Penisarwaen, Gwynedd, Wales, LL55 3PG, United Kingdom. Contact [email protected] or +48 794 779 151.
2. Use of the website
You agree to use this website lawfully and not to misuse it. All content is owned by or licensed to us and may not be reproduced without permission.
3. Information provided
Information on this website is provided for general guidance and does not constitute a binding offer or professional advice. Any proposal or quotation is subject to a written agreement.
3a. Certification, and what it is not
There is no statutory register of sworn, official or government-approved translators in the United Kingdom, and no United Kingdom body confers such a status. In UK practice a certified translation is a translation accompanied by a signed and dated statement that it is, to the best of the translator’s knowledge and belief, a true and accurate translation of the document supplied, together with the name and contact details of the translator or company. We do not describe any work as sworn, official, government-approved, legally recognised, notarised or legalised, because none of those descriptions would be accurate. Where a receiving body requires the statement to be sworn as an affidavit or statutory declaration, that must be done before a solicitor or a notary public; where it requires the underlying document to be legalised with an apostille, that is issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. We provide neither service and cannot. Requirements differ between courts, government departments, universities, registrars and foreign authorities and change without notice. It is for the client to establish, in advance and in writing, what the receiving body requires; we accept no responsibility for a translation being rejected because it was not in the form that body required.
3b. Registrations and qualifications not claimed
This website claims no registration with the National Register of Public Service Interpreters, no membership of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, the Institute of Translation and Interpreting or any other professional body, no Diploma in Public Service Interpreting or other qualification, no approval or place on any Ministry of Justice, court, police or other public-service language framework, no ISO 17100 or other certification, no security clearance, no professional indemnity or other insurance, and no accreditation of any kind. Interpreting in courts, police stations and other public-service settings carries its own registration and vetting requirements which we do not claim to meet. We work only in language pairs and subject areas we can handle competently and will decline work rather than guess at terminology; a quotation is given before any work begins and no work starts without written agreement.
3c. Confidentiality and personal data
Documents submitted for translation frequently contain personal data and may contain special category data, including health, legal or financial information. Material submitted is treated as confidential, used only for the purpose of the work requested, and not disclosed to any person outside the performance of that work without the client’s instruction, except where disclosure is required by law. Where we process personal data on a client’s behalf the client remains the data controller, we act as processor, and the processing is governed by a written agreement under the UK General Data Protection Regulation. Clients are asked not to send original documents by post where a scan will do, and are responsible for keeping their own copies; we are not a document storage service and retain material only as long as necessary.
3d. Accuracy, scope and advice
A translation conveys the meaning of the source document supplied to us. It is not a verification of that document, of the truth of its contents, or of the authenticity of any signature, stamp or seal on it, and we do not detect or report forgery. Translation can only reflect the legible content supplied: illegible, incomplete, handwritten or poor-quality material limits what can be rendered, and illegible or inaudible passages are marked as such rather than guessed. Where a term has no direct equivalent, the nearest accurate rendering is given with a note; names, legal concepts, qualifications and institutional titles frequently have no equivalent across systems. Deadlines are agreed in writing and met in good faith but are not guaranteed against events outside our control. Translating or interpreting a document is not advising on it. We give no legal, immigration, medical, financial or tax advice, and immigration advice in particular is a regulated activity which we do not carry on. Nothing on this website is advice about your circumstances.
4. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our liability in connection with this website is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
5. Privacy
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
6. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
7. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published at the time of your visit applies.
